I purchased this map for about 70 pesos, and quickly discovered that it wasn't worth the paper it was printed on. It was basically worthless, and we wasted about half a day, (and quarter tank of expensive gasolina), driving aimlessly through the Yucatan jungle.*
For navigation, I used a half-full Tums package as a makeshift sundial which I placed on the dashboard, but at high noon, (and on the day we needed it most), it didn't cast a shadow due to our close proximity to the equator.
In hind sight, I should have taken a compass, and a laptop loaded with lots of real maps. Google Earth would have come in handy to get an overview of the roads, but internet was sporadic at best, and only available in a few areas.
Even though we wasted a lot of time, we got to see a few sides of Mexico the average tourist never sees. Wow!
Welcome to Mexico! Get Lost!
